He told me he was going to get his name in newspaper too. I asked him what he did, and he told me he hadn't done it yet. One week later authorities were at our house to question us.
For years I was afraid he would escape to kill me too since he had told me. I was a small girl, and slept under blankets for years.

I was in 6th grade when he killed those women and the little girl. It shocked our community. Kids I went to school with knew the victims, went to church with Mrs. Sellers. We all went to that beauty college to get cheap hair cuts. I'm glad to know he is finally gone from this world.
As you quoted, and the stories reported at the time, (and I remember it well), his only motive was that he wanted to make a name for himself. The details I never knew until I read your post was how he randomly chose his target. Sick and pure evil.
I've wondered about this guy from time to time. What did his parents and sister do in their lives ? How did you get to know Robert ? He must have been one of the longest serving prisoners in Arizona.
